Carlito vs. John Cena (c)
Big Apple Showdown
Referee: Michael Chioda
The music of WWE Champion John Cena hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring to a somewhat mixed reaction from the crowd here in New York City. We see footage of three weeks ago on RAW when Randy Orton distracted Cena to allow Carlito to pick up a win over the WWE Champion. Carlito then went on to spit apple in the face of Cena. Carlito then made his way to the ring, and we are set to go.
The start:
Cena and Carlito locked up and Cena took Carlito down with a double leg and then hammered away at him. Cena sent Carlito the ropes and hit a big shoulder. Cena whipped Carlito to the corner and worked him over and then hit a stiff clothesline to send Carlito to the outside. Carlito grabbed a chair from ringside and went to get in the ring with it. The referee grabbed the chair and Cena went after Carlito, but Carlito got him in the ropes and kicked him in the head sending him to the floor as we go to commercial.
The Finish:
Back from commercial and Carlito is in control of Cena with right hands in the middle of the ring. Carlito sent Cena to the corner but Cena reversed and charged in, but Carlito hit a high elbow. Cena came back with the Throwback and then went to the top rope and came off with a guillotine leg drop to the bent over Carlito. Cena then locked in the STFU and Carlito tapped out.
, the WWE Champion, John Cena
Winner
The Aftermath:
Randy Orton hit the ring and attacked Cena from behind. Orton sent Cena hard into the ring steps and then paced back and fourth like a crazed man. Orton saw the chair that almost came into use earlier, and set it up. Orton stalked Cena as if he was going to go for the RKO. Cena took a long time to get up and Orton went over to him and then gave him a running RKO on to the steel chair! That was sick! The announcers put over whether Cena would even make it to Summerslam as we see a shot of the deformed chair. Some fans chanted "Randy Orton" while the women and children chanted "Sucks!" The Legend Killer has left the WWE Champion in a sorry state here. Orton stands over Cena as the referee's try to get him to back off as we go to commercial. This was a really good angle.
Moments Ago:
When we come back, we take a look at what just went down between Randy Orton and John Cena. The announcers put it over as a diabolical and demonic attack by Orton.
Backstage:
Randy Orton is shown in the back and Todd Grisham says what he just did was brutal. Orton said he sent Cena a message, and it was loud and clear. John Cena has just seen the beginning of what he will get from Orton. It was three years ago at Summerslam when Orton became the youngest World Champion, and this year he will become the WWE Champion.

Match 9: WWE Title Match: (C) John Cena v. Randy Orton
The champ is very, very over. It's amazing the reaction the man gets live. He and Orton had a match that probably went over twenty minutes and was quite good, at least from a storytelling, psychological standpoint if not a workrate one. After Orton escaped from three F-U attempts and the STFU, a fourth F-U attempt connects for the pin.
Winner: John Cena
Cena sticks around and interacts with the fans quite a bit after the match is over. No return date was announced, but we were thanked, prior to the main event, for our attendance.

Raw, Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Orton comes out to talk about his Summerslam match. He says he doesn't just beat people, he ends careers. He says he is going to be the hero of people who dislike Cena, which gets a pop. For those that favor Cena, he will be their worst nightmare since nothing will stop him from becoming WWE Champion.
Randy Orton & Carlito vs. John Cena & Umaga
Orton and Umaga start off. Umaga with a reverse elbow and punches to Orton in the corner. He misses a splash and Carlito tags in. The two pound Umaga, but he blocks a double team and clotheslines them down. Cena helps to clear house. He and Umaga stare at each other. Commercial.
Cena is pounding Carlito's head against the turnbuckle in the corner for two. Dueling chants in the Garden. Cena continues to work over Carlito in the corner. Flying shouldertackles by Cena and a Blue Thunder Driver. Five Knuckle Shuffle. He lifts Carlito up for the FU, but Orton helps block it. Cena is distracted and Carlito knocks him out of the ring. Orton hits him on the floor and Carlito dumps him back in the ring for two. Carlito punches and kicks Cena then tags Orton in. Orton stalks Cena and punches him. Stomp to the back of Cena's head. Dropkick by Orton for two. Carlito tags back in and kicks Cena. They double team Cena in the corner. Neckbreaker by Carlito for two. He applies a chinlock, adding pressure to the back with his knee. Cena reverses with another Blue Thunder Driver. Orton tags in and clotheslines Cena down for a near fall. Orton mounts Cena and punches away. Garvin/Orton Stomp. Cena dodges the knee drop. Orton tags Carlito in and he trades punches with Cena. Carlito blocks a back body drop by kicking Cena for two. Orton tags back in and pounds Cena. Orton with a European Uppercut. Orton with a headlock. Cena blocks a charge in the corner and gives Orton a bulldog. Carlito prevents the tag and punches Cena. Cena with a back body drop. Both men go for tags. Cena dives, but Umaga stalls. He finally comes in and cleans house. Samoan Drop to Carlito for two. Superkick to Orton. He hits Whipsplash on Orton. Carlito slips off the Backstabber Attempt and Cena FUs Carlito for the win (even though Umaga was the legal man).

WWE Title Match: John Cena def. Randy Orton
Orton came out first to a big pop. The crowd was split 50/50 on who they supported here, although Cena's fan section was much more vocal. This was a pretty good match, with Orton really carrying most of the load and leading the way here. They went for almost a full half hour. Orton was really getting over with the crowd well throughout the match. Good finish with the RKO leading to a slow count for Orton followed by the FU from Cena for the win.

Main Event: John Cena retains the WWE Championship over Randy Orton (preview for Summerslam). Match of the Night. It went about 25 minutes, it had some good spots including a wicked RKO out of nowhere from Orton. Cena won with the FU and stayed after the match to shake hands with crowd.

Main Event: John Cena pinned Randy Orton to retain the WWE championship. This was actually a pretty decent match that lasted around 30 minutes. Cena received probably the biggest pop I've ever heard from a live crowd. Orton actually received a good pop and not heat.
